Spark plugs civic 09
Spark plugs civic 09
Hey guys,
I kinda worried, i bought NGK spark plugs for my civic and they came with the wrong gap. Thus i decided to gap them using nose pliers and i make sure not to put pressure on the iradium tip as well as the insulator. However as I was gaping I scratched off a bit of the silver layer of the ground electrode and it exposed the underlayer, the copper if i am not mistaken.
I want to know if they are safe to use and wont cause damage in my engine.
Thanks!

Did you scratch off plating on the top off the ground electrode or on the bottom that faces the iridium tip?
Buy a $5 wire gapper for future use.

Well, as long as there's no more plating or metal bits coming off them that could possibly scratch the cylinder walls then they should be okay to use.
Best bet would be to purchase new ones along with a wire gapper. However, it's your call.
Iridiums are supposed to be pre-gapped from factory.
