Coil on Plug Replacement Necessary?
Coil on Plug Replacement Necessary?
First time poster. I have a 2006 Civic LV 1.8 with 172K miles. Trying to do regular and preventive maintenance as I can since I am the 2nd owner and have no records of previous service to this vehicle. Am changing the spark plugs out with OEM and wanted to know if it is necessary to change out the Coil on Plugs as well. I don't have any performance issues that I can detect but definitely wanted to replace the plugs since I don't know if they are original. But what is the opinion on the Coil on Plugs? Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Re: Coil on Plug Replacement Necessary?
Dealer tech here, in this shop we don't replace coils unless or until there is a problem.
If there is a coil problem, we don't push to replace the whole set, just the bad one.
(Unless the car is a Fit with known problems with crapping coils, I'll try to sell a set of 4 ..........In fact, I have a set of 4 here on my bench waiting for my GF to bring her 07 Fit in this afternoon because one of hers shot craps yesterday)
