P0420 code

Hi guys,

I have a 2008 Civic coupe with 43 000km on it. I have a P0420 code that I cleared 3 times and it always came back. Also, I noticed that the check engine light comes back when I'm on the highway. Last week, I replaced my ETC sensor and it didn't fix the issue. Finally, the gas mileage isn't very good for a Civic (220km = 23L). Do you guys think that the problem is the O2 sensor or the cat?

Thank you for your help!

Re: P0420 code

What is an ETC sensor, and why would you throw such a part at the problem?

Read your warranty. Cat is covered for 8/80 in the US.

Whatever CAUSED it to go bad might not be covered though.
Misfire can kill a cat in a hurry.
