Should I consider used Altima, Fusion, or Mazda6 over used Civic?

I was pretty set on purchasing an used 2007-2009 Civic sedan LX in manual. However, as I'm doing more research, I'm finding similar year, mileage, options as the Civic LX of Fusion, Altima, and Mazda6 in similar price range. Civic holds its value so well so that makes sense. So, now I'm thinking it may be a better deal for me to go ahead and get the midsize and not get a Civic.

The reliability of these three sedans are pretty good according to Truedelta, and it makes sense since these car companies spend considerable amount of money and R&D into midsize sedans.

My commute is lots of highway miles, 85mile roundtrip. So with Civic, I would save on gas, but midsize may be more comfortable. I haven't test drove the three midsize, but I have heard that driving dynamic is pretty good with all three.

Have any of you had similar situation?

Get a SI
Civic is the way better resale value, and dependability

And they are fun little cars

But go and test drive those cars first, then come back and make your decision

BLASPHEMY!!! Who let him in here?

In all seriousness, go test drive everyone of them. And I mean test drive, don't just take it around the block.

Alright, I test drove the Altima today, and it was awful! It felt jerky to me.

Honestly since you said you have alot of highway driving get the SI because its a 6 speed and does really good on the highway. The civic is a good little car, they have always been good little cars.

I say Mazda 6 or Civic, because I have extensively driven all of the vehicles you are looking at (I used to work for a rental place). I have taken them all to their limits. The mazda simply handles better and is much sportier. But the Civic is all around a more quality product in my opinion. It's all in what you want I guess.

You could also add the Hyundai Sonata, Kia Forte, and Kia Optima to that list.

Especially the new Sonata and Optima with that sweet 2.0L turbo 274 HP 34 MPG I4 engine.

From a pure mileage perspective, I would go with a civic. I consistently got 45 mpg on the highway in my 03 EX coupe with MT, and now get about 42 in my 06 DX coupe, MT.
