Exclamation Watch the bumpers

I am sorry I hope the new 2012 Civics have better front bumpers on them, someone barely hit hit me and the whole thing has to be replaced, of course they didn't leave their name or number at all.

Also have to watch high parking curbs as well you will scrap the front bumper underneath.

Re: Watch the bumpers

All modern auto covers are about the same these days, easily knocked loose and any damage at all requires complete replacement for the most part.

That lower lip on my 2010 is so low I scrape on the sides during everyday
driving task. I stay back from curbs but have scraped the lower lip on those as well.

Re: Watch the bumpers

All bumpers these days are the same, they are either made of plastic, fiberglass or TPO. Its not very durable material. And it sucks when someone hits your car and takes off without a note. I have had it happen twice to me.

I park far away from everyone now.

Re: Watch the bumpers

Indeed....in order to remove my bumper for inspection of how to run an intake duct, I kicked it off Of course though, unlike when you are randomly hit, I had the privilege of taking off the two metal bolts first.

I suppose you could just take those two bolts out and replace them with some cheap plastic pins so that when you are hit again instead of snapping in two the bumper just falls off. Just make sure its strong enough so that the windcurrent at 80mph can't undo it.

Re: Watch the bumpers

most new bumpers are required to have a no-damage speed rating, where if you hit something at that speed, there will be no damage (except paint scrape). the cars ive seen are usually 1-2mph max. some are 3, and in rare cases 5.its just a piece of plastic held on with a few screws.
