Slow accelaration
Slow accelaration
I have a 2010 civic it's been about couples month I love it, but I have one problem. I find sometimes the car take a little bit of time to accelerate almost like if it doesnt realise im pushing the petal almost to the floor and almost feels like it doesn't realise it need to pick up speed. I think its wierd since when I drive my moms car which is a carrolla (i know they are different) but still hers pick up right away compare to mine it acts like my old car that use to have a hard time accelerating. I dont know if its just me but even other people who's been in my car have notice. Does anyone else have this problem? Whats a way that I could change it so my cars acceleration could pick up more?

Re: Slow accelaration
welcome to owning a civic. try accelerating up a gentle slope with the a/c on and you will really have problems.
but to answer your question, newer civics 06+ come with electronic throttle system DBW (drive by wire), which is ironic name considering there is actually no throttle cable like on older cars. its all computer sensor controled. so when you press the gas, there is no mechanical connection to the throttle plate, and the computer takes a second to figure out you are pushing the pedal. terrible "upgrade" if you ask me. i could never drive a car with that.
