weird sudden engine revving while braking

I know, the reports of sudden acceleration have reached epidemic proportions now, but I've had my '06 Civic LX for a month, and there have already been two incidents. On two separate occasions, I have experienced sudden engine acceleration *while braking*. The first time, I was exiting a highway and had come to a stop while I waited to merge onto a thoroughfare; my engine RPM suddenly increased to 1500 or so, and I had to maintain increased pressure on the brake pedal; engine rpm soon returned to normal. The other incident occurred today: I was also at a stop in a line of cars waiting to pay in order to leave a garage. in an attempt to remove my wallet from my left front pocket, I inadvertently lessened the pressure that my right foot was exerting on the accelerator pedal, and the car engine started to accelerate (not just lurch forward associated with lighter brake pressure), so I had to hold down the brake pedal with a great deal of force, and the engine rpm returned to idle speed. In no way did my foot touch the accelerator in either of these instances.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

you driving a toyota or something? jk but isnt that the same problem associated with toyotas now. your gas pedal could be getting stuck for a second. idk i would check that.

Actually, the 8th gen Civic is also a drive-by-wire car, and there are NHTSA sudden-acceleration complaints against it as well.

Re: weird sudden engine revving while braking

I drive an Si, and I just noticed this yesterday.

I think mine revved up to like 3000rpm for a good 2-3 seconds...

I guess it was good i had the clutch in so I didnt actually move forward when it happened.... my engine just revved up.
