Bumpy Stock Ride

Ok guys (and techie gals), I have a 2006 Civic LX completely stock. I know from reading the threads that many of you are going with the larger wheels and low profile tires for looks and performance, and as a result, are having problems with a bumpy ride. Sounds like one of the solutions for that is going with a higher profile tire.

I'm an old cruser not necessarily interested in racing or buying new wheels, but I would like to soften up the ride a bit. Has anyone replaced the stock tires, shocks, springs or anything else that has helped soften the ride? Any advice (other than buy an Accord) would be greatly appreciated. I don;t want to spend more than a few hunderd bucks, becasue it's not that big a deal, but if anyone has any quick fixes, I'd like to know. I appreciate your time. Thanks!

Re: Bumpy Stock Ride

Hello,
I have a 2007 Civic EX Sedan. The first thing I notice when I drove it is the quick steering and the second thing is the bumpy ride.
The easiest fix is to drop the tire pressure about 4 PSI to around 28 PSI. It rides a bit smoother. It's a lot cheaper than new springs and stuff.
Honda apprarently has heard the complaint about the bumpy ride and the ride on the 2009 Civic is tune a bit smoother.

hope this helps

Re: Bumpy Stock Ride

i would keep the tire pressure at recommended level. i think 30 psi. dont go higher or ride gets worse. other than that switch to smaller rims (14 or 15) and meatier tires.
