Yea I was afraid to do it myself, but I just did an upgrade in clusters from the DX (in the DIY) to an EX so I had no use for the DX Cluster. So, if I messed up the collaboration I would feel so bad....lol...but it worked out fine! Hope this DIY helps some ppl out cause I have seen many posts about it in gauge overlay threads. So far I think it's the first DIY on it!!!!

Its actually not hard at all, there are just allot of very detailed instructions so you can insure you don't mess up your cluster! It took me 10 mins tops if that. If you take out your cluster and spin the needles you will total get the stopping thing. If at any case you mess up the collaboration, if you had two clusters you could recalibrate your cluster buy comparing it plugged in, to the cluster that collaborated right plugged in.

Dan,
Very awesome DIY!!!! best detail i've seen on a DIY.
Question though. When putting on my indiglo gauges, i recall the rpm needle and the speed slowly rotating back to the needle rests when moved.
Did your needles stay where you moved them ??

Thanks!
When you hold the cluster upright (the way it sits in your car) the needles will naturally fall down from gravity. So, when I was making this DIY I laid the cluster down on my bed (as shown in the photos) and moved the needle (speedometer) with my finger clockwise until the needle stopped. When I pulled my finger away the needle stayed in that position. I'm almost positive the needles aren't spring loaded if that’s what you’re asking; they're just connected to some gearing and a motor below in that white gear box.
If you have anymore questions, just post them and I will answer!

Great DIY
The 2k2 is much easier since your OEM gel sits right behind the odometer glass (i.e., flush) opposed to the 2k1 which is at the bottom against the circuit board (far from the glass, requiring you to lift the glass up without breaking it and using small tweezers to get to it). Plus, the 2k1's don't have the black housing either, which appears to keep the glass in place better. Still not too difficult as I did this on my 2k1 awhile ago and made a DIY for it, not as detailed as yours though since I'm too lazy to take pics (but I did try writing a lot of detail in words though). Anyways, FYI if you just scrape the red gel off then the color will be green, which is what I stuck with and here's a pic (you'll notice a slight crack at the bottom left corner due to me lifting the glass too far than I needed to, even so its not that hard if I was more patient I could have avoided cracking it)...

There ya go guys even more information!
"NorrinRadd" if your interested we should combine the best info from both DIY's to conciliate it, and create one GREAT DIY on how to change the odometer’s color.

Sounds good to me. Go ahead and add step 7b from my DIY above to yours. Let me know if you need more info then that...

indiglos do not change the color of the odometer, this is the reason everyone is busting a nut over this great DIY ..
Dang... i swear My Needles were spring loaded!!! I'm still going to have to get some gel and try this one...
Also ... For anyone who may mess up thier needle calabration. If you get to the point of putting the needles back on,
leave the needles off
Plug everything back into the car.
Turn the key just before ignition.
put the needles on to the zero position. (MPH and RPM) only
Put your Temp gauge on zero
Fill your tank, and put your gas on full
You can add that as a (in case you screw up) to the super mego combo awesome DIY

So is lowering your car to the point were your headlights and front bumper ride to low. I know here in Florida the law for the headlights is 24in which I have a 2in drop and guess what! Illegal! My headlights sit lower than 24 inches from the ground...lol....You think me or any of the other guys around the world doing mods to 7thgens care? Maybe a few, but for the most part NO! The issue of putting illegal parts, bulbs, etc. or any illegal modifications are a well known to all that do them. So to your response even if it is illegal “WHO CARES!”.
