Just bought some LED's & other stuff... Wondering if i got the right stuff.... Please help me out by letting me know if these will work for my DIY Blue Dash...
Ok, I got 4
5mm Blue LED 3.7volt - 20mA - 2600mcd
4
LED Holder
Accept T1 3/4", 5mm LEDs - Fit 21.64"(8.2mm) holes
5 Resistors
390-Ohm - 1/2 watt - 5% tolerance
I got these items at radio shack... I asked a guy at the counter and he recomended these, i wasnt sure if i needed led holders... but i got em just in case
Are these the right stuff?
OH, and yes... I did search.... and no1 answered anyone elses questions

i will change dash color too, but i will use EL cable..
i dont think you will need LED holders.
And i never have seen anyone doing it they way you are..
Take your time to look if you can do it with those resistors, and i hope you know how to solder..
Gluck..

i dont know, thats why im asking you guys
im takin it to my high school auto/electronics/woodshop(lol) teacher
He knows how to do all this ****.. but i just need the right stuff... =\
do i have all thats needed?
alright i've done it this way, you don't need LED holders. the only thing different is that i used 670 ohm resistors and they work just fine. The ones you got might work but it may still be too much voltage because the voltage thats coming through is 14 volts. I have all the pictures from when i did this to make a DIY but haven't gotten around to it. I promise i'll put it together tomorrow and put it up.

could you just not pull the stock led out and replace it with the new one thats blue??? you can access that by taking out everything and removing the rear of the a/c defrost buttons etc.

hopefully ill get it lookin like this guys dash (Forgot the thread, but i remember Telly did it for his friend, this is what the dash looks like with blue L.E.Ds
u cant take out the yellowish led and replace it with the blue led if u did that the blue led would explode because theres 14volts going through the light thats why u need to use a resistor to bring the voltage down to about 5volts

Heres my DIY for LED blue dashlights, or any color for that matter. I've got the beginning on there so far and i'll get to the rest of the controls later.
DIY BLUE LED DASH
if you've got any questions let me know
Sorry i didn't have it up yesterday, stuff came up that i had to take care of but here it is now.
Heres a pic of what mine looks like:

this pic really doesn't do it justice, it looks a lot better in person, and not as dim looking, its actually pretty bright
