Gauge Needles Sticking
Gauge Needles Sticking
Has anyone had problems with their Indglow gauges catching their needles. My MPH is getting stuck. I tried to put very thin 2 sided tape behind the gauges to get them to stay, but still no luck. And ideas or anyone with the same problem? Thanks

mine did that, just give them time to reset. or maybe you need to press down on them some more to flatten them. in time they will go back to normal. mine did that when i installed my gauges.

I had that problem too when I was using to sided tape that was thick. My tach was getting stuck which we know sucks. But I switched to Stotch tape that was double sided and stuck in around the base and then flatten the gauges. Havent had the problem since. If you notice its sticking in the same spot then you need more tape there.

Getting back to the subject. Try adding 2 sided tape like it was suggested above. It may be that the gauge is not sticking back enough.

there is a black plastic ring (or washer) under the needles... that needs to be flat on the gauges and not in the needle... use a sewing needle or something like that to flatten it all around... that could be whats causing your needles to stick...
Ok that was really good information and help Why don't you grow up a little more and at least say that it is your opinion or give an explanation why.
Every overlay I have seen for our cars is a bad design. There just isn't enough clearance between the needles to add overlays in my opinion, hence the need for tape, glue, etc. I just gave up and realized it wasn't worth the time or money. Some have had good luck, others not, I guess it's just a 50/50 with our cars. I've installed qauges on other cars, i.e. integras, neons, and they have a lot more clearance than ours.
Anyways, good luck, and bare with me and my frustration.

I get sick of explaining my situation, just felt like giving my opinion that's all. I had the same problem, although when I took the overlays off, my tacj kept jumping around, I had ruined my cluster. Luckily I had 1 month left on my warranty and convinced the dealership they had just suddenly broke!

If you are real careful you can give the needle a little tug to raise it off the new gauges but dont pull too far otherwise it will pop off then your fk'ed! But that is the best way because it will never stick again just go slow and dont pull too far!

i have the same problem- but i cant "visibly see" where my needles are sticking! it jumps until i get up to 45 mph, then it does right... guess i need to pat it down or something...
yeah i have that problem too ... mine gets stuck at 78 but it wont go past ... no matter what. I don't even have any tape holding them, they stay in place nicely, but the damn thing gets stuck and i dunno what to do about it. Keep this thread going so we can find a fix cuz i sure as hell hate knowing im goin 100 but seeing 78.

i read on some other threads (maybe even this one), that they need time to settle. once they settled, that worked for some people. but some took out the gauges and put tape EVERYWHERE and that works. its just mph needle, prolly cuz its in the "middle" of the gauges, and the middle prolly tends to bulge out...
I have reverse indiglo gauges in my car and they were sticking. Try taking some very fine sand paper and sand the inside part of the needle. This will help it glide better along the gauge face even if it isn't taped down good enough. I haven't had a problem in like 5 or 6 months after doing it.

I had the same problem with my gauge needles. I saw that the needle had to be angled. What I did was press down on the "pointy" part of the needle to the gauge face and then just tap it up and see if it glides good or not. I don't know if that'll help or not.

I was so frustrated after I got them on and they kept sticking. Also make sure they are lined up with the hole for the needle. One of mine wasn't and when the needle was turning it was catching the side of the gauge which made the needle stop working. Hope this helps some.

Does anyone know if our needles can come off with the tool? Some other cars just come right off using this tool. That might make our problem easier to fix as we can just put a hell load of tape on the backs of them without worrying on busting the needle off
I took mine off, the trick to setting it back to factory is pulling the pin that stops it from dropping all they way, and when you re-install the pin act as if your are setting it at true zero, re-install the pin and let the needle fall back against it. and you should be go to go .
oh and I used scotch 2 sided tape and never ever had probs with the needles
