Help with Painting Trim Pieces

i am having trouble with painting my center trim piece that surrounds the cd player. i took apart the whole center console and removed all the switches and controls and the cigarrete lighter box area. i cant find the two screws that hold the console in though. i know that when you remove the center console there are two screws up front at the bottom attached to a metal pillar, but they didn;t do anything. can someone please post a picture of where these screws are. thanks for the help.

are you talking about these screws? I don't undersstand if you have already taken them out or if you just can't find them.

That metal piece is actually a part of the frame of the dashboard.

FlyRice pointed out that they are not present in his 2003 model. However, they are there in 2002 models. I have 2001 and they're there.

You see #14? That's the other piece of metal that's bolted onto the one above. #14 is attached to the head unit, so you will need to take the screws out to get the head unit off the dash. Considering if it's even there.

i couldn't see those either when i took them out. mine were kinda farther back than they looked in the picture. i just stuck a socket back there (8 or 10 mm, can't remember) and felt around the top piece till i got them.

but believe me, they're there. mine is a 2002

#14 is behind that metal strip with the screws on it in the first pic. #14 is what's bolted to that strip in the first pic (imagine two slices of bread on eachother, with two toothpicks going through both of them).

And no, the screws (and that metal strip) aren't very visible. That first picture was taken from directly underneath the dashboard, making it look like that bolts are easily accessible. They are actually far up and hard to reach. The single screw you saw was probably the correct one. The other one is hidden more under the plastic lower dashboard.

Just start at one side, and push a small screwdriver in thc crack, pry it out a little bit untill you can get your hand on it then just pull straight out. There are 2 clips on te top, and 2 more on the little side pieces. Just make sure your pulling straight out on it or it might break one of the clips
