gas door problem

ive been a member here for awhile but i just got my civic this past weekend. when i got it, the salesman filled it up with gas for me. now the gas light is on and i pulled the "gas door" lever next to my feet up but when i go outside to pump the gas, the gas door is not opened, and the trunk is popped. it keeps doing it every time and i havent been able to drive my car or i will run out of gas. i think something may be wrong with my lever.

P.S. i have a 2002 coupe 5 speed if that makes a difference...any help would be most benefitial.....thanks guys!!!

You push the lever DOWN to release the fuel door. UP to pop the trunk!

Read your owner's manual.

Also, you may want to pm a Moderator and ask them to delete this thread before word gets out!

Im sorry, i appoligize. I ts just common sence. this kinda reminds me of a time i was pumping gas, this girl rode up(yes she was REAL hot) and asked me which gas was unleaded?shesaid her car uses unleaded gas only. I told her that the only station that sells unleaded is in americus(about an hour from where i live) and she said thanks and drove in that direction!!!!!!funny

yeah actually that might not be the problem. when i first got my 01, the first thing to break was the gas lever, it used to be a common problem. the dealer can fix it if its not just operator error.

Well, it is weird that you push it down like that. Hondas used to have 2 levers in that spot. One was just shorter than the other and they were both pulled up.

It was hard for me to get used to pushing it instead of pulling it. I don't know how many times I popped that darn trunk open..

Anyhow, at least the problem has been solved.

don't feel bad babe.

I gaurantee that most people that have never been in one, couldn't tell you where the gas door release is even LOCATED on an S2000. In fact, there have been plenty of S2k owners who have had some embarassment their first fill-up, when they can't find it, myself included. (though I wasn't at a gas station, I was at the dealer, who ALSO didn't know where it was. lol)
