im trying to figure out how to replace the bars that atually hold up the trunk. ive seen greys diy for the struts, im wanting to do something kinda similar, but i want the the bars gone.

im wanting to do this so so i can have a nice and clean trunk enclosure with out having 2 big U's cut out.

any one have opinions or suggestions

im not talking about those bars that go between the bars im talking about, im talking about the the S shaped ones that actually hold the trunk lid.

You may want to try and fabricate a hinge system that bolts to the edge of the body right below the rear window and to the trunk. That is the only way I can see it working. Unless you made one that was hinged on the right or left side of the trunk, sort of like a suicide trunk.

A suicide trunk would be slick. I'd like to see that. Maybe with a power hinge lock like on Camaros and Firebirds?!
