Just installed my HID
No, not those Kmart "HIDs" you get for 15 bucks, im talking the real deal. Anyway, I had no time, so i just slapped in the ballasts and i have the ex and the ballast on the driver side is touching the hood and hitting it.. where is a good place to mount my ballast? The EX abs unit gets in the way...

i dunno man...its hard for me to justify buying such an expensive addition tht doesn't quite add that much more of a benefit. i've had my picture taken with regular headlighted cars and ive had my picture taken with lexus' with factory HID. and mine isn't that much dimmer, i'm just running a set of 15 dollar krypton bulbs. but thats just my opinion.

There are alot of people who think their aftermarket bulbs are better or close to HID but its a big hell of a diff, it just depends if you care about that sorta thing......
without HID i'm hitting all these potholes and i'm lowered on stock shocks..... all show no go i guess

jesus christ guys are you guys BLIND then? i don;t understand it...you act like you're blindfolded without yoru HIDs. would car companies come out with their car equipped with bulbs so shatty that everyone driving their cars CAN'T SEE? i really doubt that. i grant you the obvious higher ability to see, but you guys act as if normal bulbs (not even talkin bout aftermarket ones) are as good as not having lights on...

Why are you so angry? You sound almost jealous of those with HID, no one said that your blind without it, your making that assumption, dont' assume without knowing.... Yes obviously you CAN see with stock or aftermarket bulbs but driving mostly at night is annoying when you miss those pot holes and so on and other then the functional use its a cosmetic thing as well, theres no mistaking HID in TYCs compared to bulbs in TYC or Stock Housing, and if your all about performance, what honestly can you really do other then I/H/E?

i drive at night a lot too, and i too plan to get hid for the tyc. it's not that the regular lights doesn't work, it's that true hid works 3x better. i do deliveries at night time, and the roads get so dark, and the town is small, with crappy roads, i feel that true hid will aid my driving at night. maybe others believe the hid are not worth it, and aftermarket bulbs are better, but maybe you should find some of the fact about halogen vs hid. the difference is night and day.

I can see noone has replied to your question which is where should you mount your ballasts. I tucked mine under the fender. It is an excellent spot for them andthey fit very flush. hope i helped. Oh yeah and hid is definatly worth the money.

Congrats on the HID's but I $12 xenon bulbs suit me better. Bulbs are all you need IMO. Plus, your night sight maybe better but what about the person you are driving behind. Their visibility is worse because they are being blinded. It's even worse on raised trucks where the headlights shine above trunk level

I'll post pics soon... gotta get my camera working.. i promise pics by the week end, got work and all. But OMFG, you hear all the hype about HID but you dont realize it till you turn those suckers on and an INSTANT surge of super intense light burns up the ground, it looks so awesome, and it turns heads when you turn them on HEH. I got the Philips kit that uses asian bulbs (from a friend), i plan on getting the Philips/Osram bulbs soon ... the beam pattern is almost close to OEM except for a slight dark spot in the middle of the beam pattern, ive yet to figure out how to remedy that, i think i should remount my bulbs, they might be in a little crooked. But man Oh man was the 300 bucks worth it(used from a friend). Awesome!!! Ill show ya guys at the next meet

Oh and im not sure which k... my friend says 4k (the one i boght it from), but it looks way bluer than that, it shines a very light purple... even in the day time those fuggers easily reflect off the back of cars, you can see the beam! I love it. I drove side by side G35s and IS300s recently and color and pattern is better than IS300 (maybe not as smooth, but a bit brighter) and equal brightness to the G35s HIDs. (drove side by side for a while)The look on peoples faces haha...
i am sorry but i think it should be a little cheaper..... you are still getting the quality (imo, korean bulbs are still way better than taiwanese bulbs, and very close to philips bulbs). but since it is not philips bulbs, it's used, and only 4000K. i wouldn't paid more than $200. consider a brand new set of hella 7000K only costs around $400.

I think they might lock this thread too...
The bottom line is to get what you like. I've owned and driven several cars with HID and HID is a superior technology to the halogen bulb. I've also driven a SINGLE car that had HID installed in place of the regular halogen bulb. While the effect was not as good as a housing built for HID, there was still more light on the road.
Like someone above said... spend money on what you like. Personally, if I had 400 bucks burning a hole in my wallet, I'd spend it on the HID before I spent it on "performance" mods. After all, I drive a pretty slow car and its not going to be that much faster. But with HID, atleast I'd see better...
as it turns out, I've got 400 bucks burning a hole in my pocket, but I'm not going to spend it on anything car related
Might not spend it at all
