Gasket work for 40+ horsepower
Gasket work for 40+ horsepower
Alright, I got a dilemma, my friend is an amazing mechanic and he told me he could fix up the gasket on my civic... he could make the holes where the fuel injects or i think it was the air that flows into the engine much bigger, by sanding them down. So I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this. Because he is a very reliable resource and knows what he is doing. So what do you all think? it seems like a good idea, he guarantees about 40 horsepower increase if not more, but he says it varies depending on the car.
Its a celebration bitches!

you mean port and polish... i don't know maby a few horses... and raised compression ratio... probly, going to cost money, i would only let a professional do that to my car.. you wont get that much power, maby 10 max... if he is a super genius, probly 15

it will gain a little, not too much though, a friend of mine has a V6 accord, he did that to his accord, so far, he hasnt dyno yet, but i wouldnt mind have him do it to my car.

he can increase compressoin by sanding down the head gasket size. but he should be careful on piston to valve clearance. but no you won't get 40hp.

I noticed a small, I repeat small increase in response by sanding down the gasket on my header.
The ports on the engine and the HP header are larger than the ports on the metal gasket, so making them the same size will reduce the restriction of the exhaust. On the other hand I may be loosing a little torque.
If anyone else ever raced ATV's then you know what a torque stuffer is. To thoose of you that dont it basicly a reducer thats placed in the primary tube of the head pipe, that helps build low-end torque.

I think maybe your mechanic meant by sanding the cylinders that he was referring to over-boring the size and installing larger pistons, just like a stroker kit. Not sure if this is even possible or how its done with our blocks.
hmm, gasket matching? In many cases, the gasket holes are larger than the manifolds, and you can enlarge the manifold holes to match the gasket...
As for 40hp... doubt it. Honda engineers probably got most, if not all the free tricks from the motor to make it efficient.
You might see a few hp here and there by cleaning up the port work. In all honesty, probably not worth the money.
