Required Maintenance????

Hey everyone, last week my father got a call from my dealership saying that if I don't take my civic in then my warranty is subject to being voided. I called the service dept today and told them about this, and they just told me that if I keep records and all that, then they won't void my warranty. The thing is though, they told me for the 15,000 mile check-up (have 17,000 mi) they would service my transmission, emissions, and stuff like that. Is it really necessary to go in for the 15,000 mile check-up? Also, should I eventually just go somewhere and get a tune-up, rather than going to the dealership to get one that they said would cost $167 for all this stuff? I want my car to last, so im sure you all understand my concern here with the maintenance. Thanks for your help!

Get it done elsewhere the dealership is trying to rip you off, but yes it is a good idea to have a tune up at this time. It can only benefit your car.

I'm in the same situation, except that I didn't want to get my car maintenence at 15K miles. Now I'm at 20K miles, and my light is back on.

What does the dealer actually do during this maint? Do you guys know? Because I'll probably either do it myself, or take it to a shop and save some $$$... Thanx!

There is no way the dealership can void your warrenty if you dont get thier recommended service, I work at one so trust me. As far as what the dealer does for a 15k service it varies by the dealership so youd have to call and ask them what they included and such.

hey does anyone here have/know what we should be doing at each matinence, because i just passed 10k and dont want to miss out on anything. i heard that the ford matinence schedule was better, but since i dont own a ford i dont kno what that is.

anyway, i think it would be helpful to post stuff for 10k, 15k, 20k.... etc

i could check the manual, but no one waits till 10k for your first oil change.
