Angry Dealership BS!!!!!

Hey everyone, my dad just recieved a letter today from my dealership saying that if I don't bring my 2001 civic in for a "Check-Up" soon then they are going to void my warranty. My dad bought me an extended warranty, up to 100,000 miles, which I think is useless. But anways, my car works great, haven't had any problems with it yet and the dealership is trying to make me spend hundreds of dollars just so they check a few fluid levels and call it a day. Dealerships **** me off, you all think it is really necessary for me to take in my car?

How long have you had the car? You should get it checked up sometime. Do you not take it there to get your oil changed?

I took mine in for the "10,000 mile service" minus the tire rotation just so I could say I did it. I will take it in for the "20,000 mile service" minus tire rotation and oil change just so I can say I did it. I want to keep my 100k warranty too. I know, its stupid 'cause they really don't do anything, but I'm just following exactly what it says in the manual for "normal conditions", service every 10k, but I am doing my own oil changes every 5k and keeping receipts of oil and lift fees.

I get those in the mail too. If you check and change your own fluids, etc. keeps receipts of the stuff you buy (motor oil, brake pads, etc.). My dealer says so long as I can provide receipts I bought the stuff it'll be fine.

I got it in august of 2001 and I only have around 18,000 miles on it. I change the oil myself and I took my car in I think for the first schelduled check-up.

The dealer can't make you go there, for all they know you are the best mechanic in the world or are paying a machanic to do it because it's cheaper that way. Call them up and tell them not to void anything and to stop bothering you and they can't do that. You didn't sign anything that said you would take it to them and I don't know about you but I didn't sign anything that said I had to prove I was getting the tune up to them. I really would call them and tell them no to void anything and yell at them for awhile

It is actually illegal in most states to void a warranty because you refuse to use the services of the dealership.
