SRI and CAI article
I have just recentlyjoined the forum and like the way that it works. I have gotten alot of feed back on alot of things. I have also noticed that there have been a lot of questions concerning CAI and SRI. Like what brand to get, which one is better, how much HP they give and things of that nature. I was in Eckerds the other night picking up some tape because I will be moving in a few weeks to Hinesville because I will be stationed at Fort Stewart GA. Anywas that is not the point. Like I said I was in Ekerds last night and saw a magazine call TPR (Tuner Performance Reports) " The Worlds Largest Tech Guide" and saw that they were doing a break down on Intakes and Nitrous Systems. Breaking tem down by brand and and Dyno Rums with the different brands and how they performed. I learned alot reading the article on the different kinds of intakes and also the different types of nitrous systems out on the market. So if you see this Magazine anywhere while you are out ad about pick it up and check it out. I found it to be very interesting. I would post all of what was in the articles but that would take a sh** load of time and I wouldn't be able to post the Dyno Graphs that come with it sorry. But like I said, if you see it check it out. They even talk about the AEM V2 system and how it compares the the rest of the other systems out there. It is some ityeresting reading.
Oh yeah I think this is the first issue because it has a #1 on the spine of the book. and I only found it at Eckerds I dunno why.

I heard about that before. I've never seen it though. Anyway, I pulled this off DragSports website, so people know what the magazine is about:
"Tuner Performance Reports
DRAG Sport is the first enthusiast publication to cater to hard-core quarter-mile performance. No people serious about making horsepower and making their cars quicker have a resource that will make it happen. Additionally, DRAG Sport serves the entire import drag racing sport by letting everyone know about the success and failure of the biggest names in competition. However, rule number one of magazine publishing is that no one magazine can bring everything to everyone.
Recently, Greg Gill (my former boss when I worked for Primedia) asked if the import and sport compact performance market was lacking anything with regards to publications. I responded that the answer is simple,"the newest generation of import and sport compact enthusiasts needs a good education to make solid choices in their quest for performance." From that, the foundation for Tuner Performance Reports (TPR) was laid. TPR will educate this new "Fast & Furious" wave of enthusiasts about what works and what doesn't. From front to back, the entire book will center on product evaluations. We'll do the test so you get the best. Look for TPR on newsstand in the middle of February 2003. "

tisk, tisk, brother, should read the WHOLE article. i hope this forever answers any questions wondering "should i get a SRI or CAI"
wow. thanks, people. this is probably the most informative thread so far about intakes. everything until now has been "it's all preference...it's all about sound." i'm sure gains are still minimal, but at least this gives a better picture on how each intake performs...
thanks sawgunner

er. i still dont think a CAI is better overall.
nor is a SRI..
but in either case, the car is a 99 Si... hardly applies to us.
you should see the dynos on our car with intake... ooooh.. +/- 1 hp.
no difference. even injen's graph (they use to have it posted) only showed 3-4 hp gain... and thats only at particular engine speed...
you'll find that, if you go to other countries... jap and euro tuners mostly stick with stock box or stock box design intake system...
ie: why do mugen came out with a stock box-like intake system.., or spoon, stick with stock box in their cars?
CAI is a north america thing. so is SRI really, the whole aluminum pipe deal is here from the state I believe. oversea, they just slap on the cone filter at the end of the stock pipping and call it a day. no need for fancy "mandrel bent" aluminum pipping. heh.
in either case that article does have some good numbers to look at, and it does show something.. the fact that all intakes are very close to each other... just pick one that you like according to where you like your power to be at.

Hey Homer I looked at a FoodLion and Krogers and 7-11 nad couldn't find it there. So I had to go to Eckerds again and thats were I found it. The mag also has a very informative article on the different types of Nitrous and hw they work and what the different brands do differently I don't think that it is posted on the web sight.
Glad you enjoyed it hassoomi
