*what does this fuse do?*

does anyone know EXACTLY what the fuse named "BACKUP" does on our cars??? i think its located under our dash or something. i'm trying to figure out because this fuse is causing a drain on my battery.

When I blew that fuse once, my keyless entry stopped working. Once I replaced it it worked again. Hope this helps!

Have you checked out your manual? It gives some info on fuses in your car.

aren't backups... just extra fuses..? that's what i thought.... or am i wrong... ?

The back up fuse when blown, or removed (in my case) will cause your light/key reminder to stop buzzing, it will cause your gauges to flutter when you roll the ignition, and a few other things if I am not mistaken.

I think it's best to talk to a tech at your dealer. I know for sure that one use is for keyless entry, but honestly I do not know what else it is hooked up to.

Fuse Number 9 (BACKUP): 10 Amp; Connects to a white/red wire; Data link connector (DLC), Gauge assembly, Immobilizer receiver unit, Keyless reciever unit, Multiplex control unit, Security control unit, Audio unit
