I think it depends on how good the thief is. For instance, my nephews ITR got stolen a few weeks ago. The thief bypassed the stock Honda Immobilizer and was driving off by the time he looked out his window.

The immoblizer actually sucks. All it is, is another item Honda put on their vehicles to make you feel safer about the vehicle being somewhere that you can't keep an eye on it at all times. Just keep in mind that if a thief wants your car, nothing, AND I MEAN NOTHING will stop him. I used to repo vehicles for a local bank when I was a mechanic and had access to a tow truck. Trust me I did whatever it took to take the car. There is no real protection to keep your car, unless you want to pay somebody to sit near your car with a gun and shoot anybody who looks at it wrong.

I just have lots of insurance. I only got an alarm to lower my rates and keep kids from stealing my CDs. But if they steal the car I have reciepts for everything done. It will be a pain in the ***...but hey...at least I'll get a new car and get all new stuff.
