DIY: Hose Techniques SVH Kit
Go here to buy the Honda Civic EX Kit
It costs $48 + Shipping
Materials that comes with the kit:
- 04.0mm SVH (8.0 feet)
- 06.0mm SVH (12.5 feet)
- SuperCutter (for smooth trimming)
- SuperSlitter (for slitting hose to use as a cover)
- Tie Wraps (30)
- Instruction Manual
Extra Materials to have:
- Scissors
- Cup with soapy water
- Straw
- flathead screwdriver
- 10mm socketwrench
You can do any part first. It doesn't really matter. So I am going to just break it down in how to do each section.
Windshield Washer Hose:
1. Unplug the line to the left nozzle
2. Unplug the line to the "Y" splitter
3. Hold that line to measure it with the 04.0mm SVH hose
4. Cut it to the same length or a cm more if you want to be safe
4. Thread the hose through the 2 holders
5. Plug the ends backup
6. Unplug the line to the right nozzle
7. Unplug the line to the "Y" splitter
8. Hold that line to measure it with the 04.0mm SVH hose
9. Cut it to the same length or a cm more if you want to be safe
10. Thread the hose through the 2 holders
11. Plug the ends backup
12. Unplug the line that leads from the "Y" splitter to the washer fluid resevoir
13. Take the rest of the 04.0mm SVH hose that is left and use it. Use all of it, there is no need to measure because it will be the perfect length after you have cut the hose to do the other 2 lines of the washer nozzles
14. Plug it into the end of the "Y" splitter and thread the new line throught the 3 holders.
15. Drop the line down next to the washer resevoir
16. Use the 10mm socket to remove the screw from inside the fender well. Use the flathead screw driver to pop out the clip at the bottom of the fender will and the clip just above the screw in the fender well
17. Pull back the fender well and pop out the side of the bumper just a little bit.
18. Here you will see the place the the other end of the washer fluid line
***WARNING***
Be ready to do this next move fast or else you will be making a trip to your local car store to buy more washer fluid. As soon as you unplug the stock line water will start pouring out of your resevoir like Niagra Falls on a rainy day. (or at least that's what it seemed like when I did it)
***WARNING***
19. Unplug the stock line and grab the new SVH hose that you ingeniously already threaded down there and plug it in.
You have now successfully complete your Washerfluid Hose exchange!!!
Hood Hold Up Rod:
1. Pull the rod out of it's holder. This may take some magic twisting to find the right angle to detach it from the car. ***DON'T LOSE THE WHITE PLASTIC THINGY**
2. Once the rod is detached from the car go find a comfortable place to sit while you work on sliding the hose on over the rod. Remove the foam protector at this time.
3. Start by using your cup with soapy water and putting it all over the rod.
4. Take the straw and put it in the soapy water. Cover the top of the straw, pull it out and place the straw at the end of the 06.0mm SVH hose. Release the top of the straw. This will let the soapy water that was in the straw travel down the hose, getting everything slippery wet.
5. Start at the end of the rod where it was attached to the car.
6. Thread the 06.0mm SVH hose over the rod. Slide it on down.
7. Once you get almost done, slide the SuperCutter onto the rod.
8. Measure your cut distance (5") and cut the hose while it is on the rod.
9. Slide the 5" part of the hose to the end of the rod.
You have to make this cut so that some of the rod is still bare to clip into its holder
10. Slide the hose up to the bend, leaving enough room for the clip holder.
11. Slide the SuperCutter down the rod almost to the end and remove enough of the hose so that it can be placed back into its connection point on the car.
12. Place the rod back in its hole **WITH THE WHITE PLASTIC THINGY**. Make sure that it clips into its holder fine and that it still supports the hood.
Engine Ground Wire:
1. Measure out enough 06.0mm SVH hose.
2. Use the SuperSlitter to open it up.
3. Pop it onto the ground wire.
4. Use the Tie Wraps to hold it at each end if you like. I did.
Throttle Cable and Cruise Control:
1. Remove the foam protector from each cable.
2. Measure out the right length of 06.0mm SVH hose.
3. Use the SuperSlitter to open it up.
4. Pop it onto the cables.
5. Use the Tie Wraps to hold it at each end if you like. I did.
6. Do this for all sections of the cable.
**Side Note** Notice in the picture that I removed the clip that holds the 2 cables so that I would not have to cut the hose into 3 seperate pieces.

Looks nice Fly. I got the same kit, same color, but it's been too damn cold to install it. I was wondering about the winshield resevoir, now I know, it comes pouring out, so I better be ready. Did you do the radiator overflow hose too? Cause in the instructions that came with my kit, it says that you can just replace it like the W/W resevoir. Now I really can't wait to get mine installed.
Oh yeah, and I really like the titles of your pictures "beforehosejob.jpg" and "afterhosejob.jpg" Classic!

No, I didn't do the radiator hose. It wasn't important to me.
Just doing the other sections took a total of 3 hours. But I am really cautious and take my time. I double and triple check everything before I do it. But now that I have the DIY written, it shouldn't take you any time at all.
