the bypass valve only starts working if and when the filter is submerged in water. why? principle of a vaccumm effect.

he wouldn't even sell the damn thing to me because he said its so useless and you lose HP, so far i've been ok, unless you hit really big puddles you don't really need it, i drove around all winter in crazy high snow in T.O and i've been ok

I personally have seen 3 engines saved by the bypass valve. It does work and is worth if you live in areas where there is lots of flooding. I live in Charleston, SC. This place floods at the slightest sign of rain. No you don't loose any power with the valve, it is closed unless water gets sucked up in it.

The bypass valve works by vacuum. Unless the entire filter , and I mean the entire thing is submereged (Unlikley, unless you decide to run into 2ft of water and stop), it can only work. If you run through puddles, and go through little rain, you are sucking up water in small amounts that you cannot notice. If you live in a submergable area, get one, it does not hurt. If not, don't waste the time or money. Had one in my old GSR, did not do s**t! Live in chicago though
