DIY A/C off Defrosting doesn't work for me.....
I tried it a few times but its not working??? I had the car off and I held the a/c and the cirulation button, then proceeded to start the car while still holding down the button. Waited for 7 secs. and started the car to see if it worked. But it didn't! Is there something I'm missing??

Rep Power: 0 It's better to leave it as it is. I did the DIY and I used the defrost onces and it fogged it even more. Now I just leave the AC on when I defrost. It works much better. The air filters better this way.

The AC will automatically turn on when you turn it to the defrost, but if you do that DIY then you should be able to turn it off. Trust me it works. But it will go to AC first but if you push the button it should go off.

Rep Power: 0 Yeah I just hate it though b/c its so freakin' cold outside and here I have on my a/c. My gf has a '03 Accord and the defroster works fine without the a/c so I don't know why our cars are any different? I guess I'll have to try it again till it works. But if it fogs up even more I'll turn on the a/c button. I just want the option whether to have it on or not. Thanks for letting me know that it does work though, I was beggining to think it was a messed up DIY.

Rep Power: 284 It doesn't work for me either. I held down the same buttons as TiM3 and held it for 7 seconds after starting the car. The AC light flashes and I let go. Then I push the AC button and it won't turn off [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

Rep Power: 0 the instructions in DIY are slightly off. can't remember what it was but there is a thread in here somewhere and the people who did it make a correction. try a search of "A/C button" or "defrost" and see what you can find. I did it the right way and it works. I think you have to keep holding past 7 seconds and then the recirc button light comes on (orange), then you are good to go. but do the search as I can't remember the exact sequence.

Rep Power: 0 Ok I just did it and it worked!!! norwee was right, you have to hold it until both the a/c and circulation buttons flash. Here's what I did...
1) Put the key in the ignition but don't turn it
2) Hold down the a/c and circulation buttons.
3) Keep holding them and turn on your car
4) Hold the buttons until they flash a few times.
Hopefully that'll work for you guys. Let me know if that works for anyone.

Rep Power: 0 i just did this DIY yesterday....this was how i did it....first while the car is completely off, i made sure that all of the 3 *****, the air position, the temperature, and the air speed was turned all the way counter clockwise-- (to the left)......then just hold down the air circulator button and the AC button...do not touch the rear defogger button....next thing u do while hold down the buttons is to turn the key to da ON postion...the one dat gives the car power...u dont even have to start the engine.....after holding it down....the air circulator button should blink....do not let go until it fnishes blinking...and whaaa laaa....DIY hack completed.........and this is my first post....just wanna say hi to every1

J/k....... I didn't really care either until it got really cold and I wasn't able to turn on the heater. It doesn't work as well without the a/c but its better than being cold.

Rep Power: 335 I haven't tried this, but check to see if the A/C is on. Not just the light on the dash the actual system. Is it possible that the light stays on but the system is off?

Rep Power: 0 Finaly! I made the same mistake. I didnt wait until the AC light came on after the recirculate stopped flashing before taking my fingers off the buttons.
