put back in place, TPS HELP!!!!
put back in place, TPS HELP!!!!
Im in a dilemna here, after cleaning the throttle body and everything was put back in place, the car's rpm became unstable oftentimes dropping to 0 rpm. Rpm would deliberately drop to 0 rpm when braking from neutral... this would happen more during mornings when engine is still cold. I was having this problem for 2 weeks now. I dont know what to look at, the tps, the throttle body itself, the ecu, electricals or the engine itself. I would appreciate ur inputs, thanx guys.

I made a DIY that's sort of on this subject: DIY: Throttle Plate Edging / Throttle Plate Screw Countersinking
If all you did was clean the TB, then that shouldn't happen. Although you may have created enough of a gap on the edges of the throttle plate that the idle is now screwed up. Is the check engine light on? If it is, then pull the ECU fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Then drive around with it for a while longer. The problem should go away as the ECU re-learns the idle.
That is if you didn't mess with the TPS or the IAC (Idle Air Control). Yes, our cars have an idle air control. They're non-adjustable though. I'm working on a DIY that let's you set the minimum air, but it'll be a while before I can produce it. I had the same problem after fooling around with the TB a little too much, but the ECU seems to have re-learned the TB weirdness I put it through. Everything is fine now...
