Unorthdox racing Pullies and light weight flywheel

I am looking to purchase the complete pulley set and the lightweight flywheel here soon. I was told by a friend that the resulting loss in wieght of those misc items would negatively effect my car. The pullies, crank, and flywheel lightened would cause to much of a loss of inertia or something to that effect I am not sure. I was curious because i do not want to put out $650 for these items and have one of them be wasted. I also have my head i bought in the shop getting a P&P, Valve Job, the Manifold P&P to match, and throttle body bored gonna cost me round $450-$500 with the hook up round here. Will these previously mentioned items with all this effect my car negatively??? I appreciate any help yall can give.

It shouldn't at all! The lightened pulleys will make it easier for your engine to move your accessories, and the lightened flywheel helps because there's less weight for the engine to spin. Your friend is on crack.

the only negative effect is from the flywheel, which you will notice when you have to launch at a higher rpm and lose some torque on take-off... well worth that side effect though

While you are at it, you might as well get a street or racing clutch. That is my next set of upgrades, flywheel, clutch, pulleys, and cam gear. Get it all installed at once. Its alot cheaper(saves about 2 -3 hours of work).

Would the lightweight pulleys and flywheel help my car that much if I wasn't getting the other stuff done to my car? Which are better, the AEM or the Unorthodox? Are they hard to replace yourself or should it be done by a shop?

on realy high HP high rpm engines the lightened flywheel might cause rpm drops between gears but other than that im shure its all benefit

AEM has good intakes and fuelrails. Thats it!! anything else buy from a different company. With the pullies get unorthodox. groupbuycenter.com is the cheapest I found and where I got mine. $282 shipped. Install is easy IMO. I had to take out the p/s and alternator to take off the old pullies, thats not really a problem just be carefull when you unhook the p/s cuz the fluid will drain, that or just buy some extra fluid. Hardest part was taking the crank pulley off. That mother F***er wouldn't come off. Had to jam a screw driver in the flywheel to keep it from turning, but do that at your owe risk. All in all I wouldn't say it's that bad of an install more time consuming then anything.

Thanks for the help. Do you think changing the pullies and flywheel are worth it? Would I have to change my belts? Also I found this pulley in an old groupbuy thread made by RVMracing.com and I was wondering if anyone had tried it.

What are some cons to getting the flywheel replaced? Do you have to take it to a shop or can you do it yourself.

lighter the flywheel less Hp to turn it and better throttle response. Less low end torque and revs faster. One con is you have to rev higher for a launch and even for a start from a stop posisition. Do a search and youll find very helpful information
