trunk mounted tool kit
trunk mounted tool kit
I was bored yesterday so I had an idea. I have a small (1 foot long by 7inch wide) black vinyl, zippered, tool case with all the necessary sockets, wrenches, etc for minor roadside repairs/trackside adjustments. It's always sliding around my trunk so I decided to mount it. What I did was drill 3 sets of 2 holes and threaded zip ties through the holes and then threaded those around the center trunk lid support and attached the tool case to there. Sorta like the way BMW has theirs mounted. Anyways, its out of the way and stays put and doesnt clunk around. It didnt make the trunk lid any heavier- it still stays open, etc. I couldnt tell you where I got that tool kit cause I have no idea, but I did see them at Sear's Hardware yesterday when I was getting the zip ties. I'll post some pics if anyone is interested. Overall though its easy, now I gotta find a place and a way to mount my big a$$ maglight thats rollin around back there.
Yes, it's an Acura EL

That's a really good idea. Please post pics - I had to move my toolkit from the trunk to under the passenger seat because it kept moving around and making sscary noises. I'd like to move it back to the trunk so I can put an amp under the passenger seat.
