Pistons meltdown...

Does anybody know the stock piston meltdown point? I am doing a turbo application and I have a "Pyrometer" and for the gauge to be useful you really need to know the piston meltdown point. Thanks!

Anything above 1600F, and you'll be melting everything. Pistons don't have their own melting point, if you're tuned correctly (ie, dyno with wideband o2) you'll never get above 1500F on the EGT gauge.

I've read online by putting the thermocouple about 12" away from the exhaust manifold is about 200degrees F lower than that comes off right out of the manifold???

your placement mustve been wrong or something. egt's arent all theyre made out to be, not the best gauge to rely on.
