I thought it is in our ECU too... I wish I had a schematic on the ECU. On some cars, you can get away with just cutting a wire to the ECU and resetting it to get rid of the speed governer

First, I believe it's not so much a speed governor as a rev limiter, limiting how high you can get. Mine kicked in around 115, and personally, I don't think I need to go faster than that - much as I'd like to. If I removed the limiter and had the freedom to go 140 MPH or whatever, I probably would, and wrap my poor vic around some tree. Well, actually since I live in Montana it'd probably be some poor bastard's stray cow, but anyways ..
Anyways I figure I'll just leave it and possibly save the life of myself, and perhaps your future meal at Burger King.

Wow, nobody even made mention that LX has a governor and EX does not. If you can go 135 MPH, you don't have a governor, you just can't go any faster because the engine is too weak. In an LX however, at 110 MPH there is a sharp fuel cutoff which jerks the car suddenly. It is NOT an RPM limiter because the RPMs are not yet at redline. I don't know where all this contradictory information comes from?
