Nos shot

I'm just curious as to what the largest shot of NITROUS we can put in our cars is. I've been reading about people running a 50 shot, and i was wondering if they could give me some info like what spark plugs they run, and how safe/not safe it is for the engine. I havent heard much about forged internals some i'm assuming all of you guys are running on stock internals. Are your motors holding up well. Has anyone ran into any problems.

Thanks

ITS NOT NOS!!!!!! NOS IS A COMPANY!!!!! YOU CANNOT INJECT A COMPANY INTO YOUR ENGINE!!!!!! CALL IT N2O, NITROUS OXIDE, OR NITROUS!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its almost as bad as asking which companies nos is better...nx or venom...lol

other than that a 50 or 60 w/ cold spark plugs seems to work.

well, its almost as bad as spelling v-tech.

you can run a 150 shot but you'd kill yourself and the engine. 50 = ok on stock ****..100 -150 shot = upgraded internals like new shot peened rods, gaskets, spark plugs, re programmed aftermarkt ECU mabybe? studed heads?def. bigger injectors, i'd even get some lower compression pistons, cam gear and pulley, of course the I/H/E...some of this isn't necessary but i'd do it to be on the safe side, and you'd get much better performance.

a 50 shot should be fine with just colder plugs. there aren't any non-custom internals out for our cars to my knowledge.

Thanks a lot for the info, i have a list of things i wanna do, starting with a new car! but since the new car isnt likely i'm just gathering info on mine, and seeing whats out there. I dont have the best job so these mods will take awhile, but i wanted to start off with the 4 into 1 DC header. Add intake and an exhaust (nothing to loud) what kind of power will i be making with i/h/e and the 50 shot?

the NX kit actually makes about 60 whp with a 50 shot, and I/H/E maybe 5 whp, so you'd have maybe 175 whp assuming our cars make 110 whp stock, whch should be fairly close

101 BWHP + 50 shot + I/H/E = approx 146-158 WHP. (not a bad start) nexy mod should be the fabrication of an high flow intake manifold. thta should give you near 15 HP (IMO) if not a little more. then a ported and polsihed heads, custom throttle body, bored exhaust ports to match intake, then bigger and lighter valves and a 4 angle valve job. you'd be off to a great start with that.

ZEX plugs are probably the best. They are what I hav installed,
but I haven't installed my NX express kit. I need an OEM ECU, since mine is re-porgrammed by JET PERFORMANCE (timing is advanced 5 degrees)
Bad for nitous to have ignition timing advanced since it leads to detonation which then leads to a blown head!
check this out.

so what if its really Nitrous or whatever, people would rather use the term NOS instead. My friend shows off his fake NOS bottle.

I would just like to note this right off the bat i'm not saying this to be mean. FSRbikr98 and the other guy (i'm not scolling back to find your name) you guys are pulling some really amature stuff. Everyone one on this thread need to cool down a little. FYI people get really particular about things like that. Thats just the way it is. when you make mistakes people think you don't know what you are talking about, wether you do or not, and don't like dealing with that. It's clear that you are new to the import world. Just take it slow. learn about what you are doing to your car.

Just so you know about the nitrous. the d17 engine won't handle above a 50 shot of nitrous for a couple for reasons, one you have to have the proper air to fuel ratio on the cylinders when they ignite. to much nitrous and not enough fuel with the air will run your engine lean and will have to increase the amout of fuel to the cylinders to prevent that. also the car will not handle the larger amount of nitrous because when the mixture ingites it create a lot of pressure in the cylinder thats what powers the car. If you do have to much gases in the cylider when it ignites it will make way to much pressure and something in the cylinder wall could break or even melt under the increased heat, break or bend a rod. that is generally what goes wrong with nitrous, there are other things like the intake manifold cracking too. If you didn't already know the d17 has a plastic intake manifold. You could also have your bottle pressure to high or a cloged injector. There are a number of things that can go wrong with nitrous, thats how it has gotten a bad name. But like all things if used right is just fine.

One thing you will want to consider is how you want to run your car. Naturally asperited or forced induction, there aren't a lot of parts out to for either of this options but its something to consider for the future. Just read threads, ask questions, and researh things you want to do to your car. There are a lot of options so be as specific as possible and people will be cool to you. there are a lot of people that are more then willing to help you out. And of course HANDS ON WORK is where you will learn the most.

There were a few people on the site running a 75 shot. I can't remember who, but I remember that they were having no problems and were being very careful about checking their spark plugs after each run.

As for the ZEX plugs, I think they are pointless and overpriced. Just make sure you use a copper plug either 1 or 2 steps colder than stock.

And as for using the word "NOS"...who cares? People call nasal tissue "Kleenex" and soft drinks "Coke." Get used to it.
