Speed Sensor Question

if some one were to interupt the speed sensor wire at the dash cluster (with a toggle switch) would it stop accumulation of mileage?? it's a hypothetical question.

I highly doubt that it will work. It can't be THAT easy.

Who knows.. it might work. But new cars these days rely alot on the various sensors to tell the ECM what to do. Sounds risky to me...

Hypotheticaly yes it will work and yes it's that easy and no check engine lights will come on! Of course we will never do anything illegal right.

I do not know about killing it at the dash, but if the sensor that aquires the speed info on the other end of the wire dies, yes the odometer stops too. I know this because the speed sensor in my brother's car burnt out. The car thinks is is going 0 MPH because no speed is being recorded, so no miles are accumulated.
