HELP ME! DIY for 2k2 Coupe Tail Lights

Does anyone have a DIY for 2Dr Tail Lights? I tried searching the forum but didn't come up with anything. Any instructions would be helpful.

My main concerns are I have to take the rear bumper off or not install the tails correctly and water leaks in. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh, I just got a pair of Carbon Fiber Altezza Tails from Matrix Racing. I paid $145+$15 shipping on eBay.

Cheers-

You do have to drop the bumper. You shouldn't have any problems with leaking if you bought them premanufactured. The only time you have to worry about that is if you clear your headlights your self. It's not fun at all. try to find someone to help you so you don't drop the bumper.

What on earth are you talking about? Do you even own a coupe? You do NNNNNOOOOTTTT have to take of the back bumper to put on new taillights. Just peel back the lining inside the trunk. Undo the 4(or 5 can't remember) and the lights pull right out. It's very easy. Takes 10 minutes max!!!

He didn't even say jack about the headlights!!

Ok i am totally confused. But you do not have to take off the bumper for tail light removal. peel back the carpet behind the light and there are screws and the light bulb wires back there. Unhook everything and undo the bolts. It really only takes 10 minutes.

Sedans have two screws from the bottom that you need to remove the bumper (or be very flexable) to get to. Coupes do not.

Once again, not asking for opinions on Altezzas. Also, it's "they're gay". And English is my second language.

I like him as well. haha

And to reassure you again, you do not have to take out the bumper for the coupe... only for the sedan.

Open your trunk, unscrew the fabric covers and punch the lights out!

Before you put the lights on make sure you check the sides of the Altezzas if they are rough you might want to sand them down otherwise your gonna scrap your bumper, they are aftermarket and chances are they wont fit perfect. And way to go standing up for your ride and opinion

Before installing your tails, get some clear silicone sealant for boats. about $3.00. go completely around the seals on the tails.

1. open trunk and pull carpet from rear section.
2. turn and pull out light-bulbs.
3. 10mm socket and remove screws holding tails in.
4. tail assembly can now be removed. (no need to remove bumper
5. put in new tails
6. screw them back in.
7 . pop light bulbs back in
8 put carpet back

Your done!!

Alex,

You realize we live in Chicago and there are around 1,000 Civics out on the streets? I have a Black Coupe LX (auto). Haven't done too much to it yet, not really an eye catcher. Mandarin Chinese is my first language.

One Question:

Can you point out where I asked for opinions on Altezzas in my first post?

Please don't waste my time. Oh, and I'm not homosexual. Thanks to everyone that actually answered my question regarding how to install Altezzas.

Don't get mad because you got owned. Just let it go. There are some things that you just can't make a good comeback for. THIS IS ONE OF THEM.

personally... i dont like the doughnut look of the altezza lights for our coupes

thats why i got TYC's

(good pick on the carbon fibre tho.. looks great with the black coupe)

anyway... when i put in my tails, i had no real idea what i was doing and didnt have a metric hex set... it took me about 35 minutes to do one of the lights, and about 5 to do the other side

just take your time

oh.. and make sure the two little posts on the side of the plastic light go into the holes in the car before you tighten down the nuts

(also, dont worry if they look like they arent fitting when you first stick em in.... once you tighten the nuts it *should* get pulled in so that they edge is flush with the body)

dont force anything.. take a pic and post it.. we should be able to tell u what ur doing wrong

I'm done with passenger side and I think I busted one of the lights. It's not working anymore. I'm making a trip to the dealer tomorrow anyway. I'll post some pictures when I'm done with both sides tomorrow. I need to wash the car too.

Going back to do the other side...

Finished installation at 9:30pm. I had to come inside and warm up every 15 minutes. I definitely broke one of the light bulbs. I'll get that fixed tomorrow. Thanks for everyone who offered instructions.

ChizX, if you broke a lightbulb, just run down to the Autostore and buy a new one. The dealer will probably charge you more. I'm not sure how much they charge, but from personal experience AutoZone has always been cheaper for me. Good luck installing those tail lights. I personally like them, even though you didn't ask for my opinion
