trunk struts

anyone know where to get a set of instructions and parts list to pit a shock set on the trunk?? I have a remote trunk opener on my alarm, but the weight of the lid deck and spoiler wont allow it to open by itself, so I'm thinking that gas struts would open the trunk and keep the lid up when popped?

If anyone has a kit for sale or knows where to get one, please pm me- thx

I think Allman was selling one. Do a search. I remember someone recently put up a DIY for the remote opening trunk. He put in the bolt-on accord latch and then 50 lb struts. Do a search!

doesnt someone sell stronger trunk springs? i think it'd be a lot cheaper that way. Just replace the inside springs that look like an X. I could be wrong tho... never really paid attention to that post.

PM Grey, I saw the job he did when a few of us met up at his house for a car show. Really nice and clean. It also gets rid of some spacial issues for those really tight squeezes when we have to fll up our trunks with crap.

i did this DIY. it is great. and 40lbs struts are the way to go. they hold the trunk anywhere you leave it, but it isnt hard to open or close it either. perfect! everything is sold on MCMASTER.com. i bought all but the gas struts on that site, and it all came to about $13 or so. i think the struts retail around $10 each. if you're going to upgrade your speakers, or want to eliminate that rattle in your rear deck area, this is a great mod. i have (2) 12" fosgate XLC punch subs pounding in the trunk and i've notice a considerable decrease in rattling since i did this DIY. goodluck!
