Splash Guards Paint keeps chipping off...

I have a white coupe and painted my splash guards white, but the paint keeps chipping off. I guess that's just normal, but is there any way I can make it more durable? I went to Pep Boys, and bought some bulldog (makes paint stick to plastic), some white primer and plastikote honda white spray paint. They told me to spray the bulldog, then primer, then bulldog once more, and paint it with the plastikote paint. And so I did, but the paint keeps on chipping off. Any ideas on what I should use to make the paint more durable and not chip off?

I dont know much about paint but the paint might be too thick. Did you clear coat it? You might want to get an autobody shop to paint it.

no matter what you do since they are mudguards your always going to loose some paint! but i suggest you get some plastikote clear coat and spray it like 10 times otherwise its gonna keep comming off.

sorry to say but nothing will work. the gravel and dirt will act like a sand blaster and keep chipping away until theres only plastic left. trust me, nothing will work.

What if I take it to the bodyshop and get it professionally painted? That has to work right? even though it might cost a lot.

They would need some type of special primer because of their material. There is no way you can do it so that they will always be painted. You will have to take it to a shop to get done cuz they have the primer.

I think the only way you're going to keep those white is just to paint them every so often. I have a white coupe with the same guards, and I was thinking about painting them. If I figure anything out, I'll pm you.

I've bought spray paint for vinyl before, I know it sounds sketchy but it worked rather well. Maybe find vinyl primer then recoat with regular spray? I dunno what else there is -- bring them to a fiberglass shop and have new onnes made up? -- OH farm tractor paint sticks to ANYTHING. You can paint that crap on grease -Maybe a good base coat.

Yeah you will lose some paint over time but I don't know if you could seriously keep it from chipping and falling off
