how do you....?

is it possible to change the ceiling courtesy light to a different color? Where do I go for the colored bulbs (I am thinking of a black light color or something hyper white/hyper blue)?. And what about the front two reading lights? How do I remove these? I looked around on the site. I found some info on getting colors, but how exatcly to I take the covers of the lights off (dome and reading light coveres). Thanks you guys,

Take a thin flathead scrwedriver and on the outersides of the front lights (this is for an lx, i think ex is diff.), stick the flathead in and pluck it out. Change your lights then snap the cover back in place. Do the same with the middle light.

I bought bulbs for the lights at Murrays auto parts (like pep boys, don't know how big the chain is though). i got red ones, they were out of blue, and they had purple too. the bulbs are too big (about 2x the size, they mostly carry parts for domestics) but i made it fit. i used 12 ga. wire connected to where the bulb fit (on the dome light of the lx, there is a lot of room in there) and put the bulb in.

i forgot to add, the bulbs are noticably dimmer. map lights bulb=same size as dome light. kinda cool how it looks like inside a submarine though

alright, it doesn't look good, but when you pop the cover off of the light, you can see 2 screws in the thing. take out the screws, and then you can remove the entire dome light assembly (just remove the light harness on the back too ). i just used some 12 gauge wire (14, 16 or maybe even 18 would be fine), electrical taped the wire to the metal contacts of each end (where the bulb that fits would touch the metal), and taped the wire to the bulb. then i just put it back in, like i said it's easy to fit the bulb and all in there. make sure the contacts and bulb are well taped, so they don't come undone and you have to do it again, but that is about the simplest electrical diy you could do really, only 2 wires. i figured the bigger bulb might be brighter, but i haven't tried a red bulb that fits to see if that's true. doubt there is a brightness difference tho... have had it in for about 3 months no problems.

honestly though, just get the bulbs that fit. they aren't that much, get em off ebay or a link in another thread. i told you this cuz you asked for it, but i wouldn't bother again (they have a crappy return policy from where i bought, so i was compelled to make it work)
