I recently got this replaced.. part cost $40 and labour was $100... do you think this is okay price? I have a HCH 2006, got it used recently and I'm wondering how often this piece breaks down, if any of you have had this break down on you.... Seemed very strange piece to break, One day i wanted to pop the trunk, popped it, and it wouldn't close. and i couldnt push or pull down on the lever under the drivers seat anymore or else it would come snapping off. Went to a recommended mechanic and was charged that much. Do you guys think the price is reasonable? I'm new to cars, this is my first car. Pls help me... not sure where to start. Thanks for the help in advance and looking forward to post more on the site

Well, since I can only guess what HCH means, and I have no idea what country you are in, or what the labor rate is at the garage you took the car to, their cost of doing business, taxes and licenses, nor if the tech charged you for a checkout time, etc., etc., etc.....
Let me ask you this:
Did you agree to this price?
Did the mechanic fulfill his obligations for said price?
Did this resolve the issue with the car that was described on the front of the signed work order?
If YES was answered to all of the above, then the price is perfectly fair.
Your bill would be a bit higher than that where I work.
Release cables have been a huge problem on 7th gens. Not so much on the 8th gens, but it happens every now and then.

Sorry... thought HCH was more commonplace... Honda Civic Hybrid. in Canada. Tech charged for 1 hour labour. I paid what they charged me... so yes to all.

Price is still quite fair, IMHO.
