Grinding Sound Near Front Passenger Tire

I dont know if the CAI has anything to do with it, but a little after the installation of the CAI, I started hearing a sound from the engine, towards the passenger tire. It sounds like something could be hitting something else. When I am slowing down and I downshift to second or first, you can hear this grounding sound pretty loud, like something is touching. But sometimes you dont hear it either. My dad thinks that it could be the clutch, but I have no clue what it could be. I thought it might have something to do with dropping my car, but what would make that kind of sound?

Its an AEM CAI, and it happens quite frequently. You mostly hear it when I start driving in first, and part of second, and when I am downshifting to second and first.

Ill tell you exactly what it sounds like. Say you are driving, and you have the CAI. You are coming to a stop and are downshifting to second, then you hear a sound that is like a baseball card that is attached to a bicycle tire to rub against the spokes. Its wierd because sometimes when I start my car and leave, halfway through first I dont hear anything, then you hear it.

Reverse Shift Fork....Mine was doing the same thing and it had to be replaced. Do you hear it alot when you are turning? If thats when you hear it, the problem is your reverse shift fork. There is a Honda Bullentine out on this. You can hear it only in 1st and 2nd gear specifically when you are turning right.

The sound is sorta like a clicking noise...

if you drive a 2001 model, it could be the infamous exhaust banging that has plagued wayyy too many drivers of civics. The mid pip bangs against the underside of the car, most noticably when it is raining. The honda dealer has a free replacement for the mid pipe if you have the problem, they redesigned the exhaust tunnel for 2002 models. Either way, go to the dealer and have them check.
