CAI Intakes
If CAI's mostly give gains at higher RPMs, does this mean that they'll be relatively close to the stock intake in terms of noise? I'm especially interested about INJEN's. How loud are those? Is there anyway to keep them quieter without losing too much power? Lastly, do you have to worry about water flooding your intake with an INJEN? Thanks. I have the AEM CAI and it really starts to scream past 4000rpms when your flooring it. but when I'm puttin' around @2000-3000rpms you hardly notice its there. i don't worry about water just keep the filter well oiled & that will keep splashes out. Just don't drive through any really deep pudles

AEM is awsome that engine roars with power. I love it when people turn their heads to see what car has such a great screaming engine.
I live in Charleston, SC which is below sea level. Whenever it rains at low tide the roads flood. So just imagine the streets of rivers at high tide!!!
I put an AEM Bypass valve on my AEM CAI because i'm not about to risk hydrolocking my engine(but then again i could get my K20a swap).

i have injen cai. it has a nice sound to it. u dont really have to worry about hydro locking unless u go into a deep puddle.

The only way for your car to hydrolock, is if the cone is fully submerged in water. when this happens the bybass valve will open up as the engine sucks in the air. I took off my bypass valve, becasue i wanted my intake to be louder, and it truly made a difference. Unless it was only my car in which the intake was quieter with the bypass valve. Either way they are louder, but better sounding then the stock, and ill be suprised if you hear someone complain about the sound of an intake IMO

If the Bypass valve makes the intake quieter, does that mean the valve sucks power away? Oh, that reminds me, how hard is it to take off the bypass valve? Can you do it without removing anything? Alright, well, I was hoping for a quiet intake with good power gains. Any suggestions? Is there anyway to keep it quiet until I need to cut it loose?
Is there anyway to put the stock intake back onto the car without removing all parts of the INJEN CAI? My friends are starting to do some autocross, and I'll need the low end power...
Thanks again!
They do have bypass valves for INJEN, right???

Perhaps I shouldn't be the one to answer this, but:
It's an intake that cools the air before sending it to your engine. Colder air is more dense. Thus, you can fit more air in less space in your engine. It also means that you can throw in more gas. As a result, you get more power with each cumbustion and more power overall.
I hope that makes sense...

I have Injen CAI (Cold AIr Intake) for those who dont know what that iz is..a Long tube that *GOES UNDERNEATH* the engine which getting colder air *to produce more power* while Regular INtake Takes Warm Air produce low..but both gain quite a bit. For me i love the way my Injen CAI screemz above 4,000 RPM,! oh yea. AEM CAI is located beneath/ or near the engine ont he bottom thus getting warm air compare to INjen, Cuz INjen is farther away from the engine! and you dont really have to worry about rain becuze itz in front the the wheel! just dont sumerge it into the deep and clean the filter every 6 monthz and yea im going crazy cuz i dont know why maybe too much sugar, well hope i give you enough info so peace out!
