Parking Break Porb......

Hey everyone, just got my front brake pads changed this weekend cause they were going out. I didn't need new shoes though for the rear breaks. Just yesterday when I tried to use my parking break when parked on an incline, the brake barely went up. It went up far enough to were the break light came on, but it doesn't go even close to as far up as it did before I got my brakes changed. Is this normal with new brakes, or is something wrong?

It is normal after an adjustment. The calipers just have to move less to be just as tight. The sensor is based on the position of the calipers not the brake handle inside the car.

The e-brake has nothing to do with the front brakes. It only applies force to the rears. Chances are they adjusted your e-brake cable too, and made it too tight. It should still work no problem as long as the light comes on, it is applying force, but if it bothers you that it doesn't come up higher, take it back and get it loosened a little bit so it comes up more.

Correct! =) When I got my regular services done, they adjusted my e-brake cable as well. If it bother's you, don't worry, it'll loosen up pretty quick. Mine was back to the way it was in a matter of 3 weeks or so.

Has anyone here ever tightened or adjusted the parking brake cable yourself?
