Cleaning Your Engine
I did a search with no luck. Anyone know how to clean the engine without damaging anything? Mine is really looking bad lately thanks to wonderful Chicago roadwork. If this is the wrong place to post this can a mod put it where it belongs?

cover up all the electronics and anything you want wiht a plastic bag or something and take a hose to tha biznatch. thats about it. or get a rag and sit there for aobut 3 hours and wipe off all the pieces. look in the detailing forums. there's a htread on it but i'm to lazy to link it. someone else will
I use "Super Clean" by Castro. While at the car wash, I spray the engine down with soapy water, then Super Clean and lastly with the spot free rinse. The spot free rinse is usually low pressure and as long as you don't try to get too close, nothing should ever happen. I've done this twice a month for the past year and I've never had ANY problems

There is a product called CD-2 Engine Detailing Kit

"The CD-2 Engine Detailing Kit contains a Super Concentrated Engine Cleaner & Prep and an Engine Detailer.

i used super clean with my pressure washer on my old car, but then I read somewhere that super clean isn't good for the paint. so on my new car I've only sprayed it with a regular hose & wiped it down. cuz I'm to lazy to do a good job. besides the winters just around the corner & its gonna do havok to it anyhow.
