Reground cam shaft from crower
Im sending my cam shaft to crower next week wednesday and they are going to regrind the core for me. It will be the first d17 cam shaft that they have done. This is one of the emails they have sent me:
"Regrind only on your stock core(s). Specs are typically 10-15 degrees more
duration and .010-.015 more lift over stock. Typical HP gains are 5-15 with
emphasis on top end power. Typical leadtimes are 1 week in the shop + return
shipping. Cost is $78 for the cam."

We should have another raffle where we put in a dollar or something and everybody votes for the best person to be dynoed and Derek pays the shop.
i highly recommend keeping your fingers crossed on this mod. from what i know about crower, is that they do good work. but also the same thing goes for GUDE who has a great reputation for awesome results, however, they actually put out a kit for our cars, that turned out to be very unsuccessful! so this could be just a problem that GUDE is having, OR...it could be the other option where our engines just dont accept internal modifications well? who knows. im gonna have to say that i think it is a GUDE PROBLEM alone, because how could an engine not perform better with a better cam?
I will have pics up soon.
I have my whole motor almost complete. I am getting it done by brevard cylinder head here in merritt island florida.
HEAD:
Port and polish (exhaust ports bored 1/2 inch then beveled & intke 1/2 inch and beveled) = $300
4 angle valve job = 200
light weight and 2 mm bigger valves = $350
Custom intake manifold = $350
Custom throttle body (70 mm) = $400
BOTTOM END:
Bore and sleeve the cylinder walls = $750
Stud the head instead of bolts = $300
JE lower compresion racing pistons = $550
Shot peened rods = $120
TURBO:
manifold = $450
turbo (T3) = $700
Intercooler = $450
Downpipe = $75
Piping (custom fit) = $190
Wastegate (delta gate) = $200
B.O.V. (greddy) = $200
Bigger injectors = $380
Upgraded fuel system (return line set up) = $1400
OTHER:
crank pully = $200
Custom exhaust = $450
This makes our motor good for 30 pounds of boost. The turbo only puts out 22 psi. The only thing holding us up is rods. They don't make rods yet so we have to get them shot peened. Shot peened rods are only good for about 12 pounds of boost. After the SEMA show we might have custom rods made.
Contact me for the hook up on parts: (321)-403-7833 Phil
EDIT: Rods will be here after SEMA show. So we can run about 20 pounds of boost.

NUMBERoneHONDA= what manifold are you using? Downpipe for 75 bucks? Is that custom? Will you be keeping AC or not? One more question. What type of engine management are you going to use for turbo?

I'm intersted in the reliability of this modification. This is something I WILL do if I hear good things from you. This is my one and only car, so I don't want anything going wrong with the engine.
I have heard from some reputable people that a regrind on a SOHC engine is almost pointless., but I don't know personally. If you have the money to spend to be the guinei pig, go for it!!! Good Luck
.... this is a 7 month old thread. there are other members that did reground cams too, and they got some gains, but nothing impressive. one person got about 140 to the wheels (25 or so whp gain) with headwork and a bullfrog cam, among some other stuff. it's not nearly as impressive as the gains found on other cars.
