[ Turbo and Intake ?? ]

What do people with civics generally due about intake, when they do a custom turbo setup? Would you get like an AEM-SRI and just 'make' it fit?

I'm just finding this hard to envision, and its not something that's often discussed...

I'm not talking about a kit, I'm talking about a custom turbo setup.

If you are doing a custom turbo install you will need all of the intake piping from the compressor side of the turbo down into the intercooler from the intercooler into the Throttle Body. Also need and exhaust manifold to hold the turbo and custom down pipe from the exhaust side of the turbo to your cat. The intake on the turbine itself you will also have to custom configure a filter onto it. In my experience we used the cone filter from the CAI and used 3' extension rubber to connect the 2 with hose clamps, this gives a colder intake into the turbo and also filters out any debris. As for other parts you will need the usual BOV, Wastegate etc etc etc...Unless you know what your doing or bring it to someone who does your better off waiting for a kit to come out for the 7th gen and who knows when that will be

Doesnt the stock intake have a hose, wire or something that connects the mass airflow sensor up to the ECU so that it can properly control the air-2-fuel ratio? I mean if you put your own pipe in there, where would you hook all that up?

kit, custom it doesn't matter, don't bother with CAI or SRI's, if you have one sell it when you get the custom piping

Well with a turbo setup you need proper fuel management, therefore you will need a "Controller" most common would be "Hondata" or "AEM EMS (engine management system" a stand alone ECU these go for about 1100 if your lucky. Not having proper fuel will run lean and detonate which is very bad news, so you would need larger injectors, Huge fuel pump etc etc. For a turbo to be safe there are many other parts you will need or recommended. Hi-flo Radiator, Oil Cooler because your using exhaust gases to spin the turbo so your water/oil temp is going to be very high. Also if running high boost (above 7 psi) then you will need to upgrade pretty much everything in your engine a stock bottom end will be able to handle about 7 pounds any more and you'll need pistons/rods/sleeves etc etc.. Check out a " Complete Turbo Kit" on a store web page and you'll see all the parts...

Exactly there would be no place for a CAI or SRI if you have a turbo, i was saying use the cone filter from the intake as a filter for the turbine, due to a kit not comming with a filter. I have seen guys at the track using nylon stockings..like pantyhouse over the turbine with a hoseclamp to keep debris out.
