k20a/k20c info???

I am quite serious about doing a k20a (JDM Integra TYPE R) or a k20c (JDM Civic Type R) swap for a while. However my main prob is the lack of info on either of those swaps period. I have only heard general ramblings of what some thought would be entailed by such a swap. If anybody has any info/links, it would be much appreciated!

honda werx has the k20a1 the type s. i don't know were to get the type r engine though. hasport has or is developing a lower subframe that will bolt up so you can drop the engine in, but you will have to do the other mounts yourself.

I think the reason for no info is the fact that only 1 person that this forum knows of has successfully swapped a K-series into a 7th gen. There isn't going to be a heck of a lot of info. You may want to get a hold of Prototype Racing, they've swapped K20A's into Lotuses, they may be able to help you to some degree. I think you're going to have to give it a little time before there is going to be some really concrete way about doing it. Once some more people go the custom route, people will begin to realize how to do it best, and maybe even get it so that you can keep power steering. Give it some time, and you'll get the answers and info you're looking for.

I already know where to get them...I am going to Japan next year to teach english and as for shipping; my friend owns a company which ships stuff from Japan to Vancouver once a month so that really isn't a concern considering that he always has extra space in his containers. I have connections in Japan w/ my import tuner friends (one drives a Skyline GTR and the other drives a Primera) that i met overseas a couple of years ago that know where to Honda Intgra Type R front clips (includes engine, tranny and everything needed) and Civic Type R front Clips (engine tranny...). NOW what I would like to know is which engine is an easier swap? Or am I better of just getting the front clip from a RSX Type S and going from there? In all likelyhood this swap won't take place for 2-2 1/2 years but it never hurts to pan ahead. i had friend who had trouble swaping the SOHC 240sx engine for Silvia engine so I don't want to take any chances.

K20A- Integra Type R (JDM)
K20A2- RSX Type S / Civic Type R
K20A3- RSX / Civic Si
K20C- no such thing

Link 1

or search "finally" in recent and archived messages, you cant get any more in depth than Aaron rambling on from beginning to end about everything that occured during his swap process.

Honda werx is just sponsoring me for doing my k20a type r swap. Next, if you are looking for info on how to swap in the k20, you have either get in contact with briang from hasport or import builders. One last thing that I am finding out is that the swap between htown's car and the hasport swap procedure are not going to be exactly the same. For one thing, on htown's car, they modified the civic subframe so that the rsx would bolt in. With hasport, they are saying that you need the rsx subframe. They also told me that with hasport's swap, you have to cut away part of the hood brace so that the power steering pulley has room to spin, where as htown's car didnt need to do this. Like I said, there are the same swap, but little differences here and there if thats what you want to call it.

It would most likely be cheaper and a lot less stressful to just buy the rsx-s...nuff said

Is the Type R engine really the K20A2 b/c I remember reading an article in both Banzai motorsport (something like that...It had BanZai in tha name!) and sportcompactcar that explicitly labeled the engine as the K20C (the sportcompactcar one was from the Silvia Conversion Step 1 issue).

Sure it costs 10 G's if u don't have hook ups! However, I might just get a 98 Impreza RHD, and ship it back instead so u are partially right!

Correct. And its not Magnus.

Please read the thread stickied in GAR...it has all of the info you would need on a swap.
