Tie bar usefulness?

The tie bar does go here right? So then what does it actually do? It bolts between 2 points on the same piece of metal! I'm not sure that it would do anything at all. So what's the deal? Does it keep the suspension from moving front and back? or what? I'm just not seeing what it does.

Seriously, that one would be more for looks. Although theoretically, if you look at the crossmember, it's shaped like an inverted "U", and it could flex and twist. So a tie bar would tie the two ends together and close the gap, minimizing or eliminating any flex/twist from that point in the chassis.

I installed my DC tie bar and the RSX-S sway bar at the same time and i DID notice a difference. More so than just a front strut bar
I'm pretty sure you could get the same results with a no-name tie bar, assuming that it fits

This is IDQ's car. The big bar that says Progress on it, is a tie bar. It controls the flex between the crossmember. The big 22mm round bars is in front of the bar, is a sway bar. The EX comes with a 12mm one but can be upgraded to a 19 or 22mm one. That also helps to control the flex of the rear but on the outer parts of the car, near the struts and wheels.
