May be getting my internals done at KMS
I am thinking of getting my internals done at KMS. I think the guy said something like $2000 for a stage 3. Depends on several factors but that is a rough guess. I'm going to ask him some questions tomorrow about specifics. Namely, 1) Will I fail emissions 2) What will happen to my insurance 3) Can I see some dynos of other 2001 Civics you've done 4) Do I have to change to 93 octane gas/roughly how many miles a gallong will I get after this 5) Will I have problems in the future from this procedure/do you offer a form of warranty for your work.
The website states $1000 for stages 3, but I think he said cams are $500 - $600. The rest is labor, depending on how long it takes. (I live in town near KMS) He told me it would take 2 weeks. Like I said, I'll get specifics tomorrow and work from there. I know this will void my warranty, that's why I'm going over this with a fine tooth comb. I've had my Civic for 13 months, I only have about 12 months remaining. I do believe that 3rd party warranty companies (a reputable one) WILL cover that, but they WILL NOT IF YOU HAVE TURBO.
If anyone is interested I will follow up on this. If anyone has insights or advice, I'm all ears.

good job on the research thats the best way to go, as far as the questions i think that the gas milage will be affected but no real numbers but way do it if your concered with milage? I would ask to see some other cars, dyno sheets and other way to tell what quality of work they do. Other than that sems like your bases are covered be careful tho i know at one time Gude had some internals that were being done but all the ones i heard from were either not worth the money or had massive problems so dont rush into anything
He mentioned that on the lot they had a 2001 Civic with over 200 horses in it, also mentioned it's going to be in a magazine next month and it was at the NOPI Nationals dyno run or some crap in Atlanta. Kind of surprising, but then again they did a stage 3 on this old civic and got over 300 out of it, of course it's not street legal, only for the races.
My only concern with gas mileage is that it factors in to the *true* cost of this thing. It better be good stuff to be representing me and my civic.

To add power, you're gonna lose milage. I don't know how much, and would bet that it will have a relation to the HP increase. I'd guess it should stay in the high 20's or above, but if you beef it up, I think you'll have to start putting 93 octane in it. I don't think anything will happen to the insurance... Just don't tell them. What they don't know can't hurt you. As far as emissions... I don't know. I guess that would depend on the catalytic converter. Starting with a ULEV system, I'd take a guess that it would still pass.

I talked to KMS at NOPI. The car is running 250 HP off the bottle. He has a 100 shot of nitrous. The 1.7L Has a custom ignition, throttle body, and some internals including pistons and a cam. The exhaust is a DC sports header and a cat back. They said they did not have time to fabricate their own exhaust before Nopi. I asked him how much more he was going to do to it and he said, "We're going to build it till we blow it." This guy knows what he is doing.
