my g/fs civic's maintenance required light is flashing and we are 99% sure that it was because the gas cap wasn't srewed on all the way...is there any way to reset this code without having to go to the dealer? i mean there is always time to take it to the dealership and all, but i would much rather just do it ourselves, becuase i think the whole thing is gay....i mean what happened is she turned the key to accessories while the gas cap was off and the dealership said that they would clear that type of code 3 times...they shouldn't have that damn code in there to begin with in my opinion...but enough rambling...anyone hvae any ideas on how to clear it?

is it always flashing? or only when you turn on your car. it's it's when you turn on your car, then it's an automated one based on your mileage

well it only flashes like 8-10 times...the car has about 8-9k miles on it and it just had it's oil changed at the dealer...any one have any ideas what it could me? any way for me to find out without having to take it to the dealer? i just want to know what it is before i take it anywhere ya know?

It's probably the automated code telling you it's time to change the oil (those nice guys at Honda figured we couldn't figure out the maintenance schedule or something......) Look in your owners manual and it will tell you how to get rid of it under where it talks about changing the oil I believe..... has to do with pressing and holding down both little "mileage reset" button by the gauges...... hope this helps.

thanks a lot man...so if the maintenance light did come on and stayed on then it was a problem, but if it just flahses at the beginning then it is just a reminder?

no,it says in the manual to change the oil every 10,000 miles,if you go past the 10,000,then it will stay on.no problem with car just reset it

I was told that the check engine light would come on if the gas cap isn't screwed on correctly.....hope this helps!

It will come on for good at 10k.

Push in the the **** to the right on the gauge cluster then put the key in the on position. Keep holding it in until the light turns off. Shut the car off, then turn it back on. Vwala. : )

I've tried that over and over and I can't take it off. Now my srs light came on too and I can't take that off.

The mait. light will come on EVERY 10,000 miles and stay on. But as you approach the 10,000 miles, it will come on at 2,000 miles..

Sooooo... when you hit 18,000 miles it will start flashing for awhile when you start your car, then when you hit 20,000 miles it will stay on... on so on..
