That rubber stuff under the bumper...
I was just parking at the post office to mail some eBay stuff between classes and I accidently hit the curb at the end of the parking space. The parking spaces are diagonal and downhill and I misjudged where the front of my car was. I didn't hit it very hard, but it ripped off this black rubber stuff under my bumper. The right-most 8" of it is hanging down now. I don't even know what this stuff is... is this something I can fix myself? Or will I have to take it to a shop or something.
Damn. It's the first flaw to my car that was my own fault.
Thanks,
IronFist

There is a groove in the bumper that the strip slides on to. Just pop it back on. There should be a fastener in the end, if you broke the hole in the rubber, see if you can repair it, if not, just glue it to the bumper, but make sure you use an adhesive that will not eat the rubber. Worst case, just pull the whole strip off, it won't matter.

I think that's the front lip spoiler thingee...it's held on by a bunch of clips if memory serves me...see if you can reclip it on, and if so, all you'd need is the clips again...if not or if my information is incorrect, I leave it to the rest of the gang to answer

after the third time of that happening to me i finally got fed up with bending down and hooking it back up (even though it only took 5 min) so i just ripped the rubber crap off and threw it in my garage.

That's what I'm getting ready to do. As I was walking to my car after work yesterday, I saw the whole left side just hanging down. Looked like my damn car had a stroke.

Yeah, I put it back on when I got home today. There's a strip that's shaped like an "L" on the bottom of the bumper that I guess travels the entire length of the bumper, so I just clipped it back in there. I think I got it all in. It looks fine, so I assume it's good.
I guess I'll see if it stays. And I'll be more attentitive next time I park at the post office here

My mate removed his dirt cover as we call it. Trouble is that his pet cat was attracted to the heat in the engine bay and crawled in. The cat was not fast enough next morning in getting out of there. The mess took a while to clean up.

See in the attached gif how I've outlined the main section in green where the rubber strip simply slips into the groove on the bumper. See also the end point (in red) where the rubber strip has a hole in each end. If you feel underneath the bumper at this point there is a small hole about the same size as the hole in the bumper. I think I'm missing a clip for this on both sides. The clip must be similar to the typical clips for the interior of a door. Has anyone ever ordered these OEM parts, and if so, how much did they run you. One of the holes on my strip is ripped and I was thinking of reparing it with a bicycle tire repair kit, just to save buying a new strip, either OEM or salvage.
those are those push fasteners, erxact same as the ones on the bumber, above the radiator. there like $1 a piece at the Honda shop. Just remove the strip, there are four clips underneath that hold it on, and those push fasteners, one on each end. You don't need it, I took mine offf when I installed my Kaminari lip.

we should complain about that to honda, its such a piece of crap, i dont know a single civic owner that hasnt either ripped it off, or have it come off for no reason. i find myself tucking it in once a week...lets collect all of them and throw them on the front lawn of honda corporate.

yeah its pretty gay how it comes off so easily...
but it does serve a purpose and its not difficult to remount. you guys shouldn't simply tear it off.
the lower air damn rubber spoiler thing is there for aerodynamic purpose... lol.
I know it sounds ridiculous.. but I think a lot of cars have that...

melt it down and make yourself a spare tire!
Mine fell off when I back out of high snow last winter. I shovel all the snow around the entire car and in the wheel wells, but I couldn't quite get to the underneath the car. So after heating up and trying to back out, there it was in the snow. I figure it was not worth putting back on if it decides to fall off at a hich speed and causing problems on the road.
