overheated?

well i'm one dumb ma'ma jamma with no concern (untill now) about my civic, that my dad makes payment on, so being the idiot I am I decided to go to a open gravel parking lot ,on a night after it had rained, and in an attempt to impress some of my friends that were in the car with me, I booked it through half of the lot and snatched the wheel in an attempt to do a 360 spin(I only got a 180 though give or take a few degrees, b/c of the stupid traction control or something) anyway I continue my stupid actions, such as reverse 180's, and what I like to call drifts (just slideing horazontily),all this with no concern that I wasconstanly redlineing it because the wet gravel was getting no traction, for at lest 10 to 15 more min's untill after getting like 210 degress my car shuts off and will not crank up,well by this time im bout to poo poo on myself noing that the nopi nationals are less than 10 days away and my dad would be po'ed that i had done blowed up my car. well I go around to the front of the car and open up the hood.at that time i saw no smoke but my stock header is glowing red.well to make a long story short we waited a little while to let it cool down and it finaly crunk up but the malfunction light stayed on the whole trip back to my friends house and i was not able to sleep all night with fear but the light finaly went off the next morning well my question is well was my car just over heated and that is why the light came on or,even though the light is off now, have I totaly botched my car? has any other folks done this or am I alone in my attemps to be a stuntman who cant spell?

the metal sound you heard was coming from warping the roters

LikeWee maybe right or it can also be a metal (pre-warning) thing we have on our brakes. It makes a metal-on-metal sound when you brake and it's telling you, "Change me please" It's accutally on the front only cuz thas the only place you'll see pads. And the metal clip that is the 'warning' is either on or really close to the pads, when they change ur pads the metal piece is also changed and you'll get a new one untill that one's protectant starts to wear down due to time or whatever your reason is (over-heating the car) and you'll kno that it's time to replace pads.

HOPEFULLY you won't have to resurface the roters, or even worse a warped one, which I don't think that it's THAT serious.

I agree. When you start paying for your own car like most of the people on this forum I'm sure you'll take a lot better care of it.

well at least he didn't hurt himself or anything..

and he did call himself an idiot and knew he was being stupid.. so it looks like he grew a bit.

good thing you didn't really hurt anything... then you'll grow much much faster...

anyway I'll give it a few days to see if anything is up... if it feels weird during downshifts (ie: not normal) ur clutch might have been burned out through ur excessive use (but thats pretty hard to say since they're suppose to last for quite awhile) UNLESS you abuse ur car like that every freaking weekend.... check ur clutch fluid, all the fluids in ur engine... and see if they're at acceptable levels..

if the malfunction light doesn't come on again I wouldn't worry, but I know you definitely put some needless wear and tear on ur car.

anyway. stop being a dork. ur have a economy car.

if you break hard and the steering wheel shakes and you can feel it in the brake pedal then more often than not you've warped the rotors but I know that wouldn't stop the car from starting....you said you were drifting!!! and popping (er trying...sorry) 360's on a gravel lot!?!?! you've got to be FU!!cking kidding me you dumb a$shole....at the least you've probably managed to send gravel and rocks all along the underbody of the car possibly tearing the cv joint boots...denting the brake lines....denting the fuel lines, filter, etc, etc...geez I swear some people just treat their cars like trash.....

but anyway no more ranting about that or tisk tisks or anything.....you're engine light probably came on that night and the car wouldn't crank just because the cpu wasn't allowing it at the time since you probably WERE soooo close to blowing a gasket that it wouldn't allow it...yes there are safety codes built into auto computers lol

hell at the least bouncing it off the rev limiter the way you were probably built up too much fuel pressure in the fuel rail which is why it wouldn't crank until the pressure bled off....just be more careful when you drive and learn HOW to drive before doing stupid crap like that unless you want some expensive bills once the warranty wears off hahahahah

OMG, this guy is a retard. errr. don't mean to be mean but. not only does he bounce his car off the rev limiter for 15 minutes while showing off to his friends, but he doesn't even put a period in his posts. let alone form paragraphs.
