tranny and shifting question
tranny and shifting question
im lazy, the search button makes me move my hand more, so i didnt.
heres my question: race shifting gets the best times, but im assuming that since youre not letting the revs match the next gear down (that takes to long), the syncros heat up rather hot. burnout usually comes when?

im on my second, when i race now i almost always loose cause i shift really slow. i baby my second tranny now
-->second transaxle
ok but how about this. i searched and found this site Fortin Transaxles i emailed them too, but no reply. we should mass mail them to see about getting a beefed up transaxle for our vics.

I constantly rev to redline in 1st and 2nd and 3rd. Not so much in 4th and never in 5th. Mostly in 2nd though and a little more in 3rd than in 1st. Anyway, I'm at 11,000 miles now and I don't think I have any problems with my transmition yet. Second sort of wants to slip out of gear, but that's if I don't engage it properly. Every other gear is fine. I'm going to change my transmition fluid somewhere around 15,000 miles. Hopefully that will help things out a little. I might also replace some of the transmition parts with parts from newer 7th gen's in the future. that is if I experience any sort of transmition failure.

Could you re-phrase that?

Ah yes, well... That depends on the quality of the components used. Not even that, it depends on how they were meant to be used. Honda probably designed them to last 100,000+ miles it you shift smoothly and use the shift points that Honda reccomends. It sucks for us, but maybe we can get replacement parts? Other than OEM that is.
