Removing Rear Deck

HEY!

I did a search on this but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to remove the rear deck on a coupe. This is usually done when ppl are trying to put new rear speakers in. I am trying to cover up my rear high mount tail lamp with black sticky vinyl (sp) because the tint guy just cut around it and it look like . I tried eariler today but I stopped after 2 hours. The way I see it, I acutally have to remove ALL the rear plastic panneling just to slide that deck out. If this is the case then I'll live with having an ugly tint job. Thanx for all your help!
Peace!

If you don't like the way he did it, why not take it back and make him re do it? For the money you prolly spent on it, he should do it to your satisfaction. Besides that, I'm pretty sure it isn't legal to completely hide the 3rd brake light.

I really can't complain... He did it for free.. The guy was the bros of my best friend.. I gave him like $50 for the materials.
I don't think it'll be illegal if I covered that thing up anyways.. I have an OEM spolier with a LED stop lamp in it and the dealer disconnected the main one anyways... so it just sits there, not doing anything but giving me grief......

Has anyone tried removing the deck to drop in new speakers?

Oh... if you have a 3rd brake light on the spoiler, you're fine. I wouldn't see any problem covering it up in that situation. Free huh? That's a good deal.

when you bring your car to a shop to get it tinted, do they remove the rear deck to tint the back window?

Well it does take some time to remove it but eventhen when the dealership tinted my rear windows they didnt have to remove the rear deck at all. They actually used a sliding tool to place the tint inbetween the window and the light. I would say take it back to where you got it tinted and TELL them (not ask) to get there lazy a$$'s to work and tint it properly. Just a little advice.

JDMCIVIC will become famous soon enough
It does take time to remove it, but once you do it, with help from another person, you can have it out in 5-10 mins.

I need to get the DIY for mine and do it as well. I still have my 6x9s sitting on the kitchen table waiting to be installed after what 3 or 4 months. It looks like a pain in the ***, but I'm sure once it's done it won't see so.

The center console thing was a pain and it's easy now that I've done it before.
